Our aim is for all Port Kitchen fresh ingredients to be sourced from within a 25-mile radius of the Port, or where possible from Shoreham Port tenants.
We use suppliers, distributors and businesses in our local area, securing the highest quality produce while also minimising our impact on the environment.
The Origins Pledge is a bold, ever evolving and constantly improving promise to do our best.
We welcome your feedback.
The circular economy is the process of preventing our waste ending up in landfill. By re-using existing resources, we can avoid the extraction of new raw materials from the earth, and therefore reduce the carbon impact of both the waste product and the manufacturing process.
Here at Port Kitchen we work with Paper Round to take this a step further. Not only do we recycle our waste, but we also make sure (where possible) that it’s turned into something that is recyclable again, meaning that the raw material can stay in circulation for longer.
Anything that we can’t recycle goes to a Waste-To-Energy plant, which is less than 5 miles from us, where it’s turned into electricity.
Nothing is sent to landfill.
Everything stays in the UK.
We also work with Vegware, who supply us with fully compostable cups and food packaging. Unlike some other disposable cups, Vegware packaging can be composted as a whole, including the ink used to print our logo, and the lid. But what happens once you’ve finished your coffee? A compostable cup is only part of the job when trying to operate sustainably, and it will not achieve its goal if that packaging ends up in general waste. Paper Round supply on-site bins and provide regular collections, after which the waste will break down in under 12 weeks and be turned into compost. The compost generated is used in agriculture and landscaping, we even use some of it in our own herb garden.
